THE WHOLE KIT & CABOODLE
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS

Let's Talk
Welcome to my studio! Thank you for your interest in flower preservation. It’s a very interesting process. It begins with filling out the contact form. This establishes your booking date and with your retainer will hold your spot as I am limited in the number of presses I have in my studio especially in Spring and Summer. This is where you share with me your inspo, thoughts, and preferences, including framing options. We will discuss your basic layout and timeline.
Please note that wedding bouquets should be booked at least three to six months in advance to ensure we have a press reserved for you.

Making the Magic
For the best results, I should receive your flowers as soon as possible while they are fresh. Ideally, they should be kept in water until delivery. (A lovely vase on the head table of your wedding reception is also a lovely addition to the decor!) You may trim the stems and wrap them in a wet paper towel covered with a plastic bag also and store in a cool place (the refrigerator is good.) Next day delivery to my studio is best. Some slight wilting is natural and shouldn’t be a big concern.
After receiving the flowers, I get right to work on them. I begin with carefully taking apart the bouquet preserving each of the stems. Thicker, pulpier stems and flowers take much longer to dry - up to eight weeks! This is an art and science that can not be rushed. I will be happy to send updates on their progress and a pic or two if you’re curious during the process.

Drum Roll...
At this point, I will have a good idea of a layout for your blooms. If you have a preference of style or layout, we can discuss this. Some bouquets look best laid out in a landscape position; some are best in a portrait position. You can also request a ‘garden layout’ depending on your bouquet. I would be happy showing you examples with your actual pressed flowers. This is a fun way to get a sneak preview! This is also when you choose frame and mat colors.
When the artwork is finished the final amount is paid on pick up. Prices range from $225.00 - $395.00. This includes the non-refundable retainer . Included are the great many hours of pressing, checking for dryness, designing, creating, and framing your unique art piece. It takes quite a long time for drying and lots of care is taken in handling your precious bouquet.
Vibrant Garden
This was a commission piece where I utilized both traditional and microwave pressing methods. I love the rich and contrasting colors that remind me of a summer garden.
Dragonfly Dream
This was a special piece utilizing traditional pressing methods and my client’s personal garden in Maine. The dragonfly, found (already expired) in my home garden, was a special touch that fit perfectly with the meaning behind the entire piece for her.
